I have taught middle and high school in Alachua county since 2000. I worked as an intern the year before that while I was in the Masters program for The University of Florida College of Education. I graduated from Santa Fe College with my Associate's Degree, then the University of Florida with a Bachelor's Degree in English, and finally completed my Master's Degree from The University of Florida in English Education.
I hold certifications in English for grades 6 through 12, an endorsement for Reading, an ESOL certification and a coach's certification. I am a qualified Write Traits trainer, and have completed numerous programs of study in areas such as Differentiated Instruction, CRISS, Kagan, and am qualified as a mentor teacher.
I am married with five children and six grandchildren. I also have a beautiful bloodhound who is basically a huge toddler. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, camping, canoeing, kayaking and participating in activities at my church. I play the bass guitar and the contrabass and enjoy all sorts of music.
My door is always open to you as a parent or student. Please respect the school rules and schedule an appointment and sign in through the office if you'd like to meet with me. If you are interested in sitting in on your child's class, I am fine with that, too. Again, you just need to clear it with the office and sign in when you arrive on campus. If you would like to volunteer, there are forms that must first be filled out in the office, but it is always appreciated.
I look forward to a wonderful and successful year at WMS.
IT'S GREAT TO BE A WESTWOOD WHIRLWIND!!!
